Oh baby, it’s a wild world.
I have a trend of babies who don’t sleep during their sessions. I love it.
I got in touch with Carter’s mom after photographing my dear friend Tresa’s baby girl Steevi earlier in the year. I was excited to add another lifestyle newborn to my portfolio, plus this session led me to photograph Jordan and Connor’s wedding the following year.
I have to say that lifestyle newborn photography is one of my favorite parts about photographing babies. I love that it allows for parents to really get into the session and enjoy the moments I’m capturing of them and their family.
Not to say that we don’t also include what I call “grandma” photos, aka everyone looking at the camera. I firmly believe there should be at least one picture of everyone smiling, if I can.
I love that Carter’s session was so low key from the start. I was able to capture bath-time and Carter’s little faces he made at his mama. This kid is definitely known for making faces and I love that about him.
We also included UND’s Fighting Sioux into the session because that’s where Jordan went to school. If you’ve never met a UND fan, you don’t know how crazy awesome they are and how much they love that school and team!
It wasn’t until the very end that Carter fell asleep and we were able to capture a few precious moments with his mohawk beanie and of him falling asleep on dad.
Lifestyle photography is truly a unique experience, and I fully recommend it to everyone, not just new parents.
