There isn’t much that I love more in life than working with past clients to help welcome in a baby to the world. Declan’s mamas were a wedding couple from 2016, and by the grace of God were still local (military) when Mr. Declan made his arrival!
This session, like all fresh 48 and newborn sessions, was incredibly special. For starters the Owen’s were adding to their family, and I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a more excited mama-to-be than when I saw Kelsey. She was so excited to show off her son and her amazing wife, Chelsea, who brought Declan into the world.
I love, love, loved capturing these moments with Chelsea, Kelsey and Declan before his sister arrived to meet him. There is just something so special about being in the room with parents and a new baby. The way they soak up every moment, and compare some things to their previous birth/child, it’s truly something special.
Although, Madison meeting Mr. Declan for the first time was pretty great too. She was so excited to finally meet her little brother. She doted and exclaimed how perfect he was.. till he farted on her and she was done, but not for long. She sincerely wanted to hold and cuddle her brother for as long as possible.
She was surprised by the amount of hair he had, but so very sweet and loving with him the entire time she had him.
Now these two had booked a fresh 48 and newborn session with me at the same time. My newborn style is very much lifestyle, I come to you, we setup in whatever room(s) you’re comfortable in and go from there.
I love that I’m able to capture everything there is about having a newborn in the home, from the nursery to how this little guy was at that moment in time. I always tell my clients that it is incredible how much babies change in just a matter of days, so capturing the insignificant moments, like changing outfits, really allows parents to cherish that time.. especially if their precious peanut is now a toddler who is drawing on the walls.. it’s nice to just remember when they were so small.
I also love that lifestyle sessions allow me to step back and really be a fly on the wall for families. I ask my clients to interact with each other and their little one like they normally would. I get to capture moments like the one below that show how loved on he was during this session.
That’s not to say that I don’t do some posing, obviously I do, I want you to have pictures where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling as much as we can, but I am just such a sucker for these little moments in between.
Of all the newborn sessions I’ve done in the last few years, this one is one of my favorites. It was just such a natural experience for the whole family, despite the crazy weather. I’d love to photograph more sessions like these, so if you think this style would fit you and your family make sure you contact me here and if you want to see more fresh 48 sessions take a look at the links below:
