So back in May I flew out to the west to hang out with my sister and photograph the elopement of one of my dearest friends, Amanda. Amanda is the sweetest, most down to earth and caring women I’ve ever met in my life. It’s no surprise that over seven years in friendship that we still stay in touch and share the biggest pieces of our lives with each other when we can.. I also send her a picture of the first snow every year that says “HI AMANDA!”
We spent months talking back and fourth about her and Josh’s big day, when it would happen and where. She knew she wanted to elope in the woods, and while originally we’d planned out for Wachella falls, there had been storms with trees down so Amanda and Josh opted to go to McDowell Creek Falls because it was a little closer and possibly not as busy. The morning of their wedding I borrowed my sisters car and drove from Seattle to Keizer, stopping only for coffee! Walking into Amanda and Josh’s apartment was like walking into your own home. They are both so amazingly sweet, funny and down right great decorators. Before long, it was time to head to the falls, I went with Amanda and Josh went with his brother.
Obviously, Oregon has some pretty nifty things like trees, waterfalls and hills. This was the absolute perfect backdrop for Amanda and Josh to say their vows. Amanda knew she wanted 2 things, a gorgeous backdrop and florals! This bouquet from Forrette Fleurs was just phenomenal, seriously. If you need ANY sort of florals in Oregon, you need to contact them! Amanda looked stunning in her two piece bridal set from BHLDN I was just in awe of how perfect she looked, and so happy too!
Obviously, Josh looked dapper too. I am a sucker for making sure there are “desk pictures” available for my brides and grooms, the perfect piece to be added to a night stand, office desk or wallet.
As far as first looks go, theirs was anticipated greatly. Mainly because we picked an off the side place with one of the waterfalls as a backdrop to it. Amanda was waiting as patiently as one can, neither of them had seen the others wedding attire so this reveal was major!
Amanda laughed about how nervous she was, Josh stood on his toes waiting. I’m mean, I made them stop for 10 seconds before they could see each other, but wow, when they did. Heart eyes for DAYS!
I wont say I didn’t cry, this whole day made me tear up!
After their first look, I asked for everyone to give them some time to just reflect on this moment. I snapped two pictures and let them just hold each other because this day was so highly anticipated by them both, I wanted to make sure they enjoyed every minute of it.
Their ceremony was short and sweet, two of their friends officiated and they said traditional vows. Both Amanda and Josh teared up while giving each other their rings, it was a moment every girl dreams of, and when announced husband they had the best kiss of 2017! Just look, it was saucy and I loved it.
After the ceremony I wandered around with the couple and took pictures in the little places we’d found along our hike. I wanted their day to be captured extensively, it’s not everyday you get married with a waterfall behind you.
Overall, I’d say for my third elopement to capture this was by far my favorite, and I’m completely biased because I love this couple so much! I only hope, and pray, that their love is blessed beyond measure, their boys are loved more fiercely than ever, they hold each other closely and maybe have more babies.
